The route to Lecce was very clear. All I had to do is follow the signs.
Easy, right? Well, in Italy the signs inform you only about the right way, not the distance.
Very funny, Italian sign-designer. You rock.

The road was surrounded by olive trees. As far as the eye can see. Olive oil, along with local wine, are the specialities of Salento (this part of the Puglia region). |
Suddenly, the first trouble came to say "hallo". After only 2 or 3 kilometers, the electric support of my bicycle, died. Just like that (btw stay away from spanish BH bikes).
I now continue with the power of my own feet, with an extra 10kg useless battery and charger - and with an already heavy bike. By the end of it, the muscles of my legs are going to look like an olympic champion.
Except, without the drugs.
3 hours and 40 kilometers of olive trees later, I arrive in Lecce - my first destination.

Buongiorno Lecce |
It seemed like a ghost town, since nobody makes a move during noon time.
The whole city was mine.

I went to find the place that I was going to spend the night. Instead, I found a hobbit room.
I had to duck in order to go inside. The length was ok though.

Frodo was here. |
After a little rest I decide to take a look outside, to see if anyone is out there - and if not, to do the normal thing anybody would do in a deserted city: walk around naked. But the picture was different. Even though it was Monday, Lecce was alive and active.

Little Italian boy performing street magic. Tricked us all. |
Time to rest and conserve some power, since tomorrow I have to cycle another 40km to Giuggianello, in order to meet with my friend Alberto.
Ciao Lecce, I will be back in a week to stay for a couple of days.
