Cycling in Italy - Day 2: The Boat

15 / 07/ 2013

Finally at 05:00 a.m the old-school "Catania, Palermo" shows up.
I quickly navigate myself to the economy deck and try to get some sleep.
Next to me, an Italian mother is beating up her 5 year old daughter, for being to loud.
Of course, now the little girl screams louder than before.
Smart.

I place my earplugs and wake up 6 hours later, one hour before we arrive in Brindisi.

After 2-3 espresso's, anyone can smile.

American teenagers on board, playing a game with scary stories. None of them was actually scary. I had to jump in the middle of the circle screaming "WE'RE GOING DOWWWN" to get them a little scared. True story.

After a while, we arrive in Brindisi. Time to pack the bike and hit the road to Lecce.
It's about 40km away and I will cycle under the hot sun of the Italian south.
Smarter.

Day 2 continues.
